Software and web annoyances

About 50% of the time i go to write a new post in WordPress 2.0 I write a new page. I dunno what it is about the positioning but I always click the damn thing & I don’t realise till weeks later.

I’m sure in wordpress 1.x when you pressed ‘Write’ it would go straight to the write a post thingie then if you wanted to write a page you’d have to tab over. I think that’s much more sensible as I say, who writes pages anyway – what is this some gypsy CMS!?

I used to use thetrainline ALL the time, the interface may well have been cripplingly bad but at least it stopped you having to leaf through scores of privatised rail lines to get the right tickets. I went on there just now to book a train ticket to newcastle (£35) so not only are they SUDDENLY charging 50p to collect your tickets from the station – yeah that’s right, to collect the tickets they have to print out anyway – there’s also at least a 50p charge on using any card – outrage! So I went over to nationalrail.co.uk (who I hear have improved a great deal from the – well we’ll tell you when the train is coming but you have to book the ticket yourself days) and the ticket was £31 and there was NO additional charges. My case rests, euthinkyouu.

Since when did ‘do you want Firefox to remember this password?’ become a rhetorical question?

What I’m saying is it doesn’t remember passwords.

What is all this bloody net-nannying about passwords & security knocking about? JEESUS. ‘Your password must contain at least 8 characters long and contain 1 number’ I mean who on earth is going to guess my password is peniscolada, is it really going to be that much more difficult for them to guess p3niscolada in THREE ATTEMPTS. Ohh let’s see – ‘password’ – damn! ‘passw0rd’ – damn she’s good.. ‘peniscolada’ ACCESS GRANTED ! ftw! i suppose this all harks back to the days of those automated code breakers that scan through the dictionary but everything is CAPTCHA now, and anyway – if you really are stupid enough to chose a bloody easy password then you deserve to have your computer used as pornography server by russian hackers – and let that be a lesson to you. Best way to learn I say.

And this was just for a del.icio.us account. Ohh no, please don’t hack into my social bookmarking site and say I like lolcatz when really I think its not that good. MY BOOKMARKS ARE MY IDENTITY!

I have google reader watcher for firefox so when I have any new RSS items I know about it right away. Thing is there’s always at least a 5 minute delay between google reader detecting a new item and actually being able to read that item. Damnit I want my news NOW! Stupid having to wait.

Preview doesn’t preview a god darn thing. On my other hosted blog it previews the text but never the images. Way to test you guys!
